CORINA STRIM

Corina Strim, president and founder of Music Magic, grew up with music being an integral part of her life. She began teaching piano lessons at the age of 16 in Anmore, BC and continues to do so today in her hometown of Canmore, AB. Receiving her ARCT with the Royal Conservatory of Music at the age of 18, she went on to study and complete her degree in Music Therapy.

Her music therapy internship was conducted on the Palliative Care ward of Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver. Since then, Corina has worked in the world of music therapy serving and assisting individuals living with dementia, depression, Parkinson’s, and many other age-related difficulties. In addition, she has worked with many children with a variety of mental, emotional, and physical challenges.

Since moving to Canmore, AB in 2002, Corina has established a thriving music education business providing individuals of all ages an opportunity to develop a love for music through music programs and private lessons. She has been successful in establishing music therapy programs in the long-term care units in both Banff and Canmore, which greatly enhance the quality of lives for the residents who live there. Furthermore, she has developed a rich music program for the Mountain Muchkin Daycare in Canmore that brings the benefits of music to the children each week.

Most recently, Corina has her sights set on offering Community Drumming Circles to the residents of the Bow Valley. Having studied with the amazing Kalani Das and the skilled Judy Atkins, Corina is keen to set a new pulse in the Canmore community and bring people together with the nothing but some rhythm instruments and two hands.
